Obituary

MADISON Wiechmann, Esther Poehler, age 83, went to live with Jesus on Monday, October 11, 2010. She was born to Carl and Martha (Fluegge) Poehler on June 5, 1927 in Courtland Township, MN. She was baptized on June 19, 1927, and confirmed March 17, 1940. Esther married Wayne Wiechmann on June 19, 1949, and became the mother of 6 children, 32 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. Esther was a teacher, free-lance writer, poet, and high soprano singer. She played the piano, organ, trumpet, and guitar, and taught piano and voice for many years. Esther poured her heart and soul into absolutely everything she did in her life. This caused many of the people who knew her to say, "If you want something done conscientiously and well, give it to Esther." Esther attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Upon graduation, she was employed by Salem Lutheran Church, Loretto, MN, to establish a one room school for students in grades K-8. She became the teacher, music director, organist, and athletic director for over 40 students. While she lived in Milwaukee, WI, Esther taught, and established a complete Kindergarten curriculum for Siloah Lutheran School. She also taught grades 3 and 4 at Bethesda Lutheran School and Gloria-Dei Bethesda Lutheran School. In 1966 Esther became the office manager for the Clinic of Dermatology and simultaneously wrote stories for the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Sunday School Course. When Esther became the Community Club Awards Director, for radio station WZUU, she wrote and edited advertising spots and newsletters for over the air broadcasting and coordinated the sponsors and their ad agencies. Esther worked as a servicing representative for Manpower Inc. and became the Child Care Director for Manpower Inc. Child Care Center in St. Joseph's Hospital. Esther was a supervisor and typesetter for the Northwestern Publishing House and also a distributor for New Vision vitamin supplements. She was the Director of Development for the Prison Ministry of Peace & Life, Inc. and wrote the newsletter called Straight Talk. Esther and Wayne proofread the Lutheran Meditations for many years and proofread the new Christian Worship Lutheran Hymnal. Esther is survived by her children, Elise (Bob) Saidler, Jonathan (Ericka), Joslyn (Rev. John) Moldstad, Gaius (Marian); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Thom and Valeria Weindorf; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, a brother, her children; Kevin and Heidi Lee Stingl, three great-grandchildren, and her beloved husband Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Eastside Ev. Lutheran Church - 2310 Independence Lane, Madison, WI, with Pastor Schmiege officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee, WI. We would like to thank the Hospice team and the staff at Pine View of Sun Prairie for all of the help, support, and compassion that they so willingly gave to Esther and to our family. We are deeply grateful. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. SOLI DEO GLORIA!
