Obituary

SATEWICZ, EDWARD JOSEPH "ED"MADISON-Edward J. "Ed" Satewicz, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 26, 2010 at HospiceCare Inc. in Madison from complications after having had a severe stroke. He was born in New York City and lived most of his life there having spent his last years in Staten Island. Ed was a U.S. Navy veteran having proudly served his country during World War II in Bethesda, Hawaii and Maryland as an x-ray technician. His fondest memory during that time was meeting President Roosevelt while giving him an x-ray. He worked for over 50 years at NS Meyer, a military insignia company. He ended his career there as a buyer and retired in his early 70's. He and his wife enjoyed visiting his brother Walter Satewicz and his wife Anne Marie, during those visits they enjoyed traveling to Disney World together and there was always the occasional trip with the church to Atlantic City. He loved cars and driving, finding a good bargain, but treasured most the time spent with his family and friends. Ed moved to Madison 1 years ago and was able to enjoy a belated retirement after many years of taking care of his late wife, Rose and step-daughter Theresa. Moving to Madison had opened his eyes to a new world where he made many new friends, went to movies, enjoyed good restaurants and traveled with his buddies. His daughter Kathyrn knew that Ed was enjoying life when he stopped sharing his Sundance movie card with her. He is survived by his daughter Kathryn Satewicz; a step-granddaughter, Elizabeth and a step-great-granddaughter, Ciara. In addition to his wife Rose and step-daughter Theresa, Ed was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Michael. He thoroughly enjoyed all the people that he met and was friends with while in Madison. He was pleased to share many new and wonderful experiences with them. A Memorial Service will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 1, 2010, with a luncheon to follow.
