Eric Berg

LAS VEGAS / COTTAGE GROVE- Eric J. Berg, age 24, was taken from this world by a tragic accident, all too soon, on October 1, 2010. He was born on Dec. 15, 1985, in Madison, to Larry and Jane (Tavares) Berg. Eric was a member of the Monona Grove High School football team, baseball team, and the National Honor Society, graduating in 2004. He attended UW-Madison and was accepted to continue his studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in January. He was an avid Wisconsin Badger, Brewers, and Packers fan. Eric loved being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at the "Hunting Shack" with his friends and sister Kelsey. He especially enjoyed bird hunting with his faithful companion Buster and was looking forward to coming home to join the gang at deer camp in November. Eric's infectious smile and great personality will be missed by all. Eric is survived by his parents; sister, Kelsey; maternal grandparents, James and Esther Tavares; uncles, Mike ( Nancy) Tavares, Joe (Tina) Tavares, and Bob (Harriet) Berg; aunts, Maggie (Mark) Smith and Mary (Brian) Windsor; his older, west coast cousins; Jason, Bethany, and Megan; and younger cousins who all looked up to him; Shannon, Joseph, Bridget, Kathryn, Jayme, Sydney, Gabby, Frank, and Casey. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lars and Vera (Walker) Berg; and uncle, Frank Tavares. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main Street, Cottage Grove, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, with Monsignor Raymond Kertz presiding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
