William Mawbey

MADISON- William R. Mawbey, age 78, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at his home. He was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Fond du Lac, the son of Robert E. and Mary (Seger) Mawbey. Bill served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He married M. Jeanne Christensen on Aug. 2, 1965, in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and together they moved to Madison. Bill, Jeanne and Joelowned and operated Cottage Caf in Madison for more than 21 years. Bill had a variety of interests, including cooking, hunting, canoeing, fishing and gardening, but especially enjoyed his time spent with his family. He was a member of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; sons, William, Robert, and John Mawbey; daughter, Christine Mawbey; several grandchildren; feline friends, Angel, Jaspurr, Betty, and Wilma; other relatives and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Joel in 2004; his parents; and his brother, Kenneth. Memorial services will be held at SUN PRAIRIE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 702 North St., Sun Prairie, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, with the Rev. Scott Carlson and the Rev. Susan Bresser presiding. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sun Prairie United Methodist Church. A special thank you to the Heart Failure Clinic, the doctors and nurses at St. Marys Hospital, the Dean Clinic and HospiceCare.
