Mr. Kieth H. Thornton

BROOKLYN - Kieth H. Thornton, age 91, of Brooklyn passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at HospiceCare. He was born on November 22, 1918 at the home farm in Brooklyn, the son of George Earl and Pauline Barbara (Haynes) Thornton. He married Ruth M. Burrill on June 14, 1944, in Fond du Lac. Kieth was a great fisherman, fishing everyday in St. Germain where he owned a home and lived during the summers. He enjoyed his coffee clutch in town every morning. He maintained his independent living on his farm up until a week before he died. Kieth was a farmer (dairy, cattle and grain) and a school bus owner/operator for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983. Kieth is survived by his sons, Art (Mary) Thornton of Monticello (formerly of Oregon), Jim (Marcia) Thornton of Stoughton, and Robert (Debra) Thornton of Sherrard, Ill.; grandchildren, Keith, Karyn, Donna, Diane, Ted, Mindy, and Laurie; step-grandchildren, Ryan and Michael Courtney;seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Parker, Bobby, Dylan, Carson, Katelyn, and Noah; hisbrother, Hugh (Ann) Thornton; and hissister, Eva Thornton Lundgren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on April 23, 2005; his parents; sister, Nora Koehler; and brother, Robert Thornton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI. 53711.
