MADISON-Evelyn Galbraith, age 78, of Madison passed away after an extended illness on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at University Hospital. She was born on Nov. 4, 1931, in Roxbury, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Mary M. (McDonald) Driscoll. Evelyn married Harold Galbraith on Sept. 12, 1952, in Roxbury, Mass. She never lost her love for Boston. Evelyn lived her life the way she wanted. She was the neighborhood mom, affectionately known as "Mrs. G." Evelyn was a housewife that survived raising seven kids in 10 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold; children, William of Maine, Michael stationed in Iraq, Hal (Diane) of Deerfield, Suzanne (Joe) Galarowicz of Madison, Timothy (Gary Prideaux-Wentz) of New Glarus, Gregory (Roylene) of Cottage Grove, and Cheryl (Francis) Galbraith of Madison; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Gloria, Margaret, Louise, Joan and Marie. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph; and sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Mom, your pain is now over. We love you and will never forget you.

Evelyn, I'm sorry that you are gone. I had hoped to see you and Harry in the near future when Mike returned from Iraq. But since I can not, I will say this: the one thing I loved about you was your fiery, often passionate ability to express yourself!!! Thanks for being you! You will be missed!
