Brockmann, Violet J.MONONA/MCFARLAND - Violet J. Brockmann, age 89, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. She was born on March 3, 1921, in Madison, the daughter of Henry and Theresa (Faust) Brockmann. Violet worked at American Family Insurance for more than 30 years. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Violet loved to knit and became quite accomplished with her hobby of knitting. She enjoyed reading and always found the beauty in simple things. Violet is survived by her nephews, Michael (Christine) Brockmann, and Timothy Brockmann (Diane Wagner);niece, Renee (Richard) Metcalf; great-nephew, Jeffrey (Jenn) Brockmann; great-nieces, Susan (Knute) Knutson and Colleen Brockmann (fianc, Heath Makela); great great-niece, Natalie Knutson; great-great-nephew, Carsen Brockmann; and sister-in-law, Doris Brockmann. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Myron E. Brockmann; sister-in-law, Lenore Brockmann; and nephew, Gregory Gurriell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 10 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
