MIDDLETON - Bernice M. Bowers, age 66, of Middleton, passed awaypeacefully on Monday, August 9, 2010 at her home. She was born June 15, 1944 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clarence and Oliva(Frey) Haas. Bernice married Gary "Butch" Bowers on May 8, 1965 inRoxbury. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Middleton. Bernice is survived by her son, Gary J. (Tricia) Bowers, Jr. of Waunakee; four daughters, Lisa (Dr. Steve) Schwarze of Lexington, Kentucky, Marilyn Bowers of Cross Plains, Brenda (Tim) O'Brien of Madison, and Cheryl Bowers (Brian Kruser) of Belleville; her grandchildren, Cody, Jessica, and Tyler Bowers, Charles and Alan Larson, Madeline and Eddy Matush, Alli and Will O'Brien, and Cody Kruser; her siblings,Edna Ruhland, Florence (Cyril) Kraemer, Lucille Reisinger, Mildred (Ken) Noltner, Tom (Marlene) Helt, Werner(Diane) Haas, and Mary (Clarence) Dresen. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, husband "Butch" Bowers, a grandson Ross Larson, and her brothers and sisters Rita, Earl, Herman, and Irene. Bernice loved to laugh and her motto was "Life is Good"! She always had a positive outlook on life, making those around her smile. She didn't miss a beat on the dance floorwith Jesse Walker's polka music and fell asleep to the tunes of Johnny Cash. She loved to plant flowers in the yard and watch birds from the window. Bernice will hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her. May a smile come over you, as the summer breeze blows, reminding you of her laughter and warm spirit. A special thank you to her close friend Bill Wills for keeping her smiling and dancing. The family would like to thank Lynn of Senior Helpers for her wonderful care over the last year and Hospice for their support.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave. Middleton at 2:00 PM on Friday August 13, 2010 with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

We knew Bernice from Roxbury:from 1st grade thru high school my sister(Aggie)was her classmate 1 year younger than I.
When Butch&Bernice married after the reception they came to our house till the dance we lived down by the church in Roxury.One thing I always remember and my sister Aggie was in the wedding.

we will miss her giggles. We had lots of years together .no kindergarten in Roxbury, but grades 1-12. Had lots of fun when we went to Branson a few years ago.
