Elizabeth Elstad

Middleton-Elizabeth "Betty" M. Elstad, age 91, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born on Aug. 17, 1918 in Eastman, WI, the daughter of Francis and Loretta (Shoemaker) Walz. Betty married Edward Elstad on Jan. 2, 1943 in Fort Bragg, NC.He preceded her in death in 2000. She attained a degree in teaching and taught middle school in the Delavin-Darien School and then taught at St. Andrews Catholic School until her retirement. Betty had many interests in life including playing bridge, going out to eat and golfing, but enjoyed most her time spent with family. She was a member of Delbrook Golf Club for many years. She is survived by her two children, daughter, Judie (Stu) Haagensen; son, Mark (Susan) Elstad; 7 grandchildren; Tracy, Barlow, Kristin, Steve Haagenson, Ryan, Sarah Barber, Emily Wright and Matthew Elstad; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Walz; and many friends, including a very special friend Verna Kuehling. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers. A memorial mass will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Avenue, Middleton, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Fontana, WI. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
