PhotoHalvorsen, DavidMADISON / LAS VEGAS, NV - David Halvorsen, age 56, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010. He was born in Madison on Nov. 26, 1953, the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Maynard) Halvorsen. Dave graduated from LaFollette High School with the class of 1971. He moved to the exciting city of Las Vegas in the early 90's. There he began a long career working for Creel Printing, until his recent return back to Madison. While in Las Vegas, Dave met his future wife, Gloria Ortega. They were united in marriage on Aug. 4, 2001. He enjoyed golfing, baseball and was always a Packers and Brewers fan, but he especially enjoyed showing his family and friends all that Vegas had to offer. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; mother, Dorothy Halvorsen of Madison; brother, John (Jean) Halvorsen; sister, Sharon (Gary) Ring of Cottage Grove; mother-in-law, Margareta Rojas and the Ortega family also many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence on Aug. 6, 2010; and brother, Larry in 2004. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010.
