Doris Brewster

EVANSVILLE/ MONONA-Doris Elizabeth Nickerson Maurin Brewster, age 91, passed away at the Evansville Manor Nursing Home, Evansville, on Monday, August 16, 2010. She was born in Madison on March 21, 1919, and was preceded in death by her parents Lester Nickerson and Clarentine Mitchell Nickerson, and her husbands, Joseph P. Maurin and William N. Brewster. Doris was a long time member of St Lukes Episcopal Church Madison/Monona, where she actively served and participated for many years. She was a member of the Madison Womens Club and was an active volunteer at the YWCA and the Monona Food Pantry. She was previously employed as a bookkeeper at the Bluemound Golf and Country Club, Wauwatosa, WI, and at the Madison Club for a number of years, taught pre-school for Madison Church Day Nursery, and was a claims processor for WPS Insurance Co. She is survived by her children, Jo-Claren (Cliff) Woolever, Theresa (Joe) Burkholder, and William (Jennifer) Brewster, her sister Phyllis (Bruce) Willett, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, WI, on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Bruce Willett officiating. Interment will be later in the Columbarium at St. Lukes Church. The family expresses their gratitude to the many wonderful caring staff at Evansville Manor, and to those from Hospice Care, Inc. who were involved with her near the end of life.
