Obituary

MADISON - Darlene Dyer, age 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep due to complications with Alzheimer's. She was born on Nov. 27, 1935, in Madison, the daughter of Marcelle (Loy) Whelan. Darlene graduated from East High School, class of 1955. She married Delos O. "Sonny" Dyer Jr. on Nov. 11, 1955. Darlene enjoyed cross-stitching, puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and camping. She is survived by her husband, Delos "Sonny" Jr.; children, Cheryle (Jeremy) Dyer-Cherry; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason York) Dyer, Casie Dyer, and April Dyer; great-grandchildren, Breana York-Dyer, Kaleb York and Olivia Klosa; sisters, Beverley Packel and Sherrel (Tom) Walker, brothers, James (Charlene) Cunningham, Frederick (Sandra) Cunningham, Lewis (Beverly) Cunningham, and David Whelan; and sister-in-law, Virginia Hurda. Darlene was preceded in death by her son, John Dyer; and her parents. Graveside services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. A special thank you to Oak Park Place, Middleton and HospiceCare for the care they gave Darlene.
