Jean Gritzmacher

Gritzmacher, Jean A. MADISON - Jean A. Gritzmacher, age 80, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010. She was born on Oct. 19, 1929, the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Nelson) Grant. Jean graduated from East High School in 1948. She married Dale Gritzmacher on Feb.25, 1950. She worked at American Family Insurance for 25 years, retiring in 1994. Jean was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family. Jean is survived by her daughters, Dawn Collins of McFarland, and Jill (Brian) Wolff of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Janet Gritzmacher of Madison; her twin sister, Joan Knudtson of Madison, and sister, Betty Heggesta of Madison; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 2008; her parents; sons, Dean and Larry; son-in-law, Larry Collins; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Knudtson and Gordon Heggesta. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, with the Rev. Laura Sutherland presiding. Burial will be held at Windsor Congregational Cemetery in Windsor. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug.11, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
