Laverne Edward Acker

Acker, Laverne E. MIDDLETON-Laverne E. "Hunch" Acker, age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Laverne was born on Jan. 7, 1932, in Ashton, the son of Anton and Rosaline (Brabender) Acker. He was united in marriage to Marilyn on Feb. 11, 1956, at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Madison. Laverne was a member of the Middleton Fire Department for 25 years and St. Bernards Catholic Church. He also worked at the Middleton Farmers Co-Op for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Jeff (Sherri), Garry (Mary), Larry, and Randy (Jennifer) Acker; grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Megan and Brandon; step-grandchildren, Betsy, Charlie and Justin; and sisters, Mary Ann (Jerome) Adler, Doris (Raymond) Maier and Sue (Steve) Statz; and brothers, Leroy (Marcie), Tony, and Russell Acker. Laverne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vincent; and two infant sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010.
