Ruth Elaine Colwell

MADISON-Ruth Colwell, age 78, died Friday, July 30, 2010, surrounded by family. She was born in Cambria, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Olson) Bergum, and moved to Madison during her high school years. She worked at Rural Mutual Insurance, Elaine Madison, Air-Lec, Industries, and the Northeast Family Medical Center. Ruth was a loving person who enjoyed her children and grandchildren. For enjoyment she loved to listen to music and dance. Ruth is survived by her son, Todd Colwell, his wife, Karen and their children, Kaitlyn and Bennet; her daughter, Susan Sloan, her husband, Michael Sloan and their children, Brian and Tyler; and her sisters, Frances Reis and Josephine Jensen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Russell Colwell. A memorial service will be held at WINDSOR CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, 4434 Second St., Windsor, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, with Pastor David McDonald officiating. A memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, in memory of Ruth. A special thanks to Alimaa Nyangar for her care and friendship.
