Mr. Eugene A. Peterson

Peterson, Eugene A MADISON-Eugene A. Peterson, age 66, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Pierce county, the son of Theodore and Hilda (Gunderson) Peterson. He married Barb Learned on Sept. 2,1966. Gene was in the Air Force for four years, and in the Army Reserves for two years during the Vietnam Era. He worked for Oscar Mayer foods for more than 30 years and was currently working for World Wide Parts. Pete enjoyed his time spent at Wiggies with friends for many years. Gene is survived by his wife Barb; three children, Scott (Kim Kreiger), Sheila (Darwin) Barron, and Eric (Tanya); two grandchildren, Rachel and Destiny; mother-in-law, Hazel Learned; two sisters, Carol Hoffman and Ruth Ewert;brothers-in-law, Sam (Bette) Learned, Jerry (Mary) Learned,two sisters-in-law, Betsey (Marcus) Trush and MaryAnn (Randy)Kalepp;and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Samuel Learned; andfour brothers-in-law, Delbert Hoffman, Gerhardt Ewert, Tom Kalepp, and Terry Learned, and a special nephew, Rodney Ewert. Memorials: Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. The family would like to thank the staff at HospiceCare, Dr. Carter and staff at St. Marys Hospital for all their care and support Visitation: Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Service: Memorial services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Hwy AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010, with the Rev. Chris Lee Thompson presiding, with military rites conducted.
