Obituary

Robertstad, Glenn C. Glenn C. Robertstad, age 81, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Madison. He was born on Feb.18, 1929, in Madison, the youngest of six children of John and Ingeborg Robertstad. Glenn repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ when he was twelve years old. When he was about twenty years old, he yielded control of his life to the Lord and then he began to experience the adventure that is walking with God. Glenn was twice blessed in marriage. He enjoyed 48 years of marriage with Hildegard until she died in 2002. He has since enjoyed seven years of marriage with Beverley. Glenn served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. Then, for more than 30 years, he was a lettering artist for Oscar Mayer. For about 10 years he taught sign painting at MATC in the evening. Glenn loved meeting people, teaching, telling stories, and painting signs. The Bible, especially the Psalms, gave him strength, peace, encouragement, and occasionally correction. Glenn thoroughly enjoyed singing hymns with his deep, bass voice. More often then not, he was the life of the party. Glenn is survived by his wife Beverley Johnson of Madison; four sons, Steve (Patty) of Edgerton; Tim (Tammy) of Glenwood, Illinois; Dave (Laurie) of Corsicana, Texas; Dan (Grace) of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; six grandchildren: Grant, Kristina, Charles, Katie, Joanna, and Damaris; and a brother, Gordon (Jan) Robertstad of El Paso, Texas. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife Hildegard, twin sons who died at birth, his parents, and his siblings: Ruth, John, Harriet, and Vivian. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Madison. Uncle Glenn was one of the best story and joke tellers I have known .He was always the life of the Robertstad family gatherings .Strong spiritual and family values were at the heart of all he did. He will be missed ,but never forgotten by family and frieds .Uncle Glenn was proud to serve his country in the Navy and even prouder to be a Norwegian. Ole and Lena jokes will never be the same .

Dear Beverley, Steve, Tim, Dave, and Dan We just want to express our deepest sympathies to you and the extended family. I will always remember the time I spent in Madison and how your family included me in family meals, driving me to church and generally being a blessing. Uncle Glenn was always smiling. Mom always called him "her kid brother" and said that he was blessed with a wonderful family. She loved him dearly. Thank you again for ministering to our family after Mom's death and while we were all again in Madison. Kristine Reidenbach
