Thompson, Doris Peterson STOUGHTON/OREGON/HOLLANDALE-Doris Peterson Thompson, age 102, died on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton. Doris was born in the Town of Moscow, near Hollandale, on July 9, 1907,the daughter of the late Peter C. and Minnie (Matson) Peterson. She was a graduate of Hollandale High School and Platteville Normal Teachers College. She taught at the rural Ernest and Long Valley Schools. Doris married Philip Thompson on Oct. 13, 1934 and had four children, Peter (Carolyn) Thompson of Mayville, Judy (Peter) Maksymo of Oregon, Paul (Sharon) Thompson of Oregon and Stanley Thompson of Milwaukee. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Joy Hosking at the Skaalen Home. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip; grandson, Terry Thompson; sisters, Margaret Christianson, Clarice Lunda, Florence McInvaille; and brother, Ralph Peterson. "Gram", as she was known to many, was a long time member of the Hollandale Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church, Oregon. She enjoyed her family, her many friends, the Silver Threads Senior Center, the friends in her card club, painting, writing and cooking. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 Netherwood Road, Oregon, with Rev. Paul Markquart presiding and Pastor James Koza. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Long Valley Cemetery, rural Hollandale. The family would like to thank Pastor James Koza and the staff at the Skaalen Home for their friendship and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skaalen Home, St. John\'s Lutheran Church or Hollandale Lutheran Church. Gram, we will miss you greatly, but rejoice in the fact you will be joining your beloved family in heaven. \r\n \r\n Cemetery: Burial will be at Long Valley Cemetery, rural Hollandale. Visitation: Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Service: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at ST.
