Obituary

Pierce, Ronald\r\n MADISON-Ronald Pierce, age 83, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Ottawa, Illinois. He was born on Oct. 31, 1926 in Stockton, Illinois, the son of Ellwood and Helen (Townsend) Pierce. He graduated from Stockton High School and from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a dual degree in Animal Husbandry and Agronomy. He was also a member of Delta Theta Sigma fraternity house. He served in the Army during the Korean war. He married Margaret Acker in 1956. Ronald was a Badger, Cubs, Brewer and Packer fan. He lived in Madison, Manitowoc and Dixon and Galesburg, Illinois. Ron worked at Oscar Mayer as a packing plant supervisor in Madison. He also worked for Farmco in Madison, Wisconsin Feeder Pig Coop in Manitowoc and FS Services in Dixon and Galesburg. He was in a slow pitch softball league, loved to golf, bowl and fish. He was an avid pinochle player, collected stamps and coins, had an impeccable detailed yard and garden and always loved to volunteer to help others. Ronald is survived by his wife Margaret; his children, Ronna Buck of Ottawa, Charles (Linda) Pierce of Mount Horeb; grandchildren, Emily (Steve) Cakora, Samantha Buck and Michael Buck; sister, Kay (Mural) Adams of DePere; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonathan Pierce in 1985; brothers, Donald Pierce and Ray Pierce. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 5 p.m. with Monsignor Douglas Duschak and Father LaVerne Meier to concelebrate. Burial will be at St. Peter\'s Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. A special thank you to Ron\'s caregiver and niece, Kathleen Donsing, for the care she gave Ron during his illness. \r\n Cemetery: Burial will be at St. Peter\'s Cemetery in Ashton.
