Perkins, Muriel "Mert"
MOUNT HOREB/DODGEVILLE-Muriel "Mert" Perkins, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 surrounded by her family. Mert enjoyed a long life full of laughter and fun. She married George "Perk" Perkins on July 13, 1943. Together Mert and Perk owned and ran Perkins Market and Perkins Insurance and Real Estate. They spent many years traveling the world, playing cards, golfing and hosting family gatherings. A lifelong Packer fan, Mert and Perk attended every home Packer game for 40 plus years. Mert enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, quilting, reading and raising her three children, Suann, Roger and Barbara. Mert is survived by her children, Suann (John) Gilligan, Roger (Gayle) Perkins, Barbara (Dennis) Reed; grandchildren, Michael Thomson, Doug (Jessi) Thomson, Erik (Cynthia) Perkins, Kyle J. Mindermann; great-grandchildren, Vance E. Mindermann, Parker George Mindermann, Corey Thomson, Gavin Perkins and Noah Thomson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Perkins; father, Robert L. Hodgson; mother Ethel Allen; sister, Phyllis Richleu, Nancy Vogel; and brother, Rollie Hodgson. In accordance with Mert's wishes, in lieu of services, family will gather to enjoy a large meal, drinks and many funny Mert memories. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy, Madison, Wisc. 53711 or 8 Atrium Meriter Hospital in Mert's name. \r\n
