Obituary
Slinde, Marcella M. MADISON - Marcella M. Slinde, age 86, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center. She was born on March 30, 1924, in La Salle, Ill., the daughter of John E. and Anna (Jones) Konczak. Following World War II, Marcella was united in marriage to Berton M. Slinde and they spent more than 60 years together. Marcella was very active with the American Legion Post No. 429, where she currently held the office of secretary/treasurer. Marcella was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church for more than 55 years. She was a woman of strong faith and truly loved her church. Marcella was an organizer and an accountant for Town & Country Ford Tractor Dealership. When the dealership closed, she worked for Badger Bowl for many years. Marcella was always busy, either working or helping others, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. Marcella enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and along with Bert, loved the Packers and Brewers. Marcella is survived by her children, Bert (Lesley) Slinde Jr. of Monona and Cindy (Jon) Putnam of Madison; grandchildren, Jeff, Mike, Andrea and Stephanie Slinde, and Kristy, Dan and Lisa Putnam; brother, John R. ( Betty) Konczak; sister-in-law, Dagmar Slinde; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert Slinde Sr.; sister, Helen Janz; and brothers-in-law, Joe Janz and Russell Slinde. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHEN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, with the Rev. Tim Hansen presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the time of the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church.
