Obituary

MADISON- Thomas "Tom" Sturlaugson, age 62, of Madison, died peacefully on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. He was born on Sept. 14, 1947, in Madison, the son of Steven and Eleanor (Falker). With his first wife, Barbara Brown he had two sons. He married Gwen Feit on July 5, 1997 in Monona. Tom graduated from East High School in 1965. After graduating, he served in the Navy. Tom returned to Madison and held various sales positions until he was hired at the UW as a sign writer. He worked for the UW until his stroke in 2005. Tom loved to sing and would take his "one man show" to nursing homes and entertain the residents. He also enjoyed movies and loved playing cribbage and international rummy. He is survived by his wife, Gwen; sons, Kevin (Michele) of Virginia and Tim of Florida; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Steven; sisters, Oradell (Thomas) Lindblad and Mozelle; brother, Bill (Nancy); stepson, Frank (Christine Fleming) Feit; stepdaughter, Leanne (Clay) Wayne; step granddaughters, Morgan, Eliana and Peyton Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, with Reverend Thomas Lindblad presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Russell Hermus, Joe and Jane Baldwin, Becky Wornson, Diane Brown and Dave Bonfield. Memorials: Memorials may be made to HospiceCare. Visitation: Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. While I never had the pleasure of meeting Tom, I did meet Gwen during a visit to AZ to see Leanne with whom I am friends. I am saddened to hear of your loss and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.

I will not be able to attend the service but would like to express my deepest sympathy to Tim, Kevin and the rest of the family. I always liked your Dad. He was a good guy. I ran into him here and there and he always remembered me from the neighborhood.
