Obituary

Williamson, Duane C. MADISON-On Sunday morning, June 13, 2010, Duane C. "Willy" Williamson, age 78, entered eternal life. He was born on Jan. 18, 1932, to Charles and Nora (Landsness) Williamson. Duane served in the U. S. Army from 1951 until 1954 in Germany, as a squad leader in the 94th AAA Second Armored Division. At age 17, he became an auto mechanic. Duane owned and operated his own service station, later worked for the Spahr family garage, and then worked for the City of Madison Streets Department. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and with his mechanic skills, he was always working on a project or helping his family. Duane is survived by three children, Jerry R. (Sonja) Williamson, Charles S. (Kerry) Williamson, and Karen A. Meinholz (Ray Tuschen); two grandchildren, Ryan (Tracy) Williamson and Christopher Meinholz; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Carson and Collin; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Janet Stebbins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Donna Wegener and June Grinde, just hours before him. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at noon on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Windsor Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Mr Williamson's unfailing welcome - both at St. Mary's and at the dialysis clinic - was enough to "make my day!" Please know that I, too, am missing him. May he rest in peace.
