Obituary

MADISON-Walter E. Seeliger, age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Oakwood Village East. He was born on July 12, 1921, in Madison, the son of Walter and Marion (Amacher) Seeliger. He was a graduate of Madison East High School. Walter enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942. He served in the South Pacific during World War II in air reconnaissance. After the war, Walter was united in marriage to Cathryn Norgord. Walter was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He retired from Harker Heating as a sheet metal worker. He was a little league baseball coach and Boy Scout leader. Walter was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He never lost his sense of humor and always brought out a smile. Children loved him and if you met him you had a friend for life. Walter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cathryn; sons, Dan Seeliger and Scott (Karen) Seeliger; grandchildren, Keri (Tony) Buff, Kori (Kevin) Atwood, Brent Seeliger and Tiffany (Todd) Shull; great-grandchildren, Kloe and Kolin Atwood, Taylor Shull, and Scotty, Max and Mia Buff; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; and sisters, Dorothy and Erma. A memorial service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST, The Tree of Life Chapel, 5565 Tancho Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. A visitation will be held at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakwood Foundation, Inc. The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the loving care and friendships from Oakwood Village staff and residents.
