Donald James Ender

MADISON-Donald J. Ender, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 9, 2010.He was born on May 6, 1928, in Rice Lake, the son of August and Ann (Brunner) Ender. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned his Journalism Major in 1948. He then joined the US Army having proudly served his country from 1948 until 1953 in Berlin, Germany. Don was employed as a plate maker with various printing companies until his retirement in 1993. He also drove truck for Napa Auto. He was united in marriage to Betty La Flash on February 14, 1981 in Madison. Don was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan enjoying the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers games. Don had a variety of interests including bowling, collecting political pins and coins and reading especially about the American Presidents, but treasured most the time spent with his family. Don is survived by his wife of 29 years, Betty Ender; a son Scott (Kelley) Ender; four daughters, Susan (Jeff) Zimmerman, Grace Duquette, Cheryl Ellis and Carla (John) Dunlap; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Tom, Frank and Steven and two brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison at 1:30 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2010 with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove.
