Obituary

STOUGHTON/MADISON-Margaret "Peg" Williams, age 87, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010, at Stoughton Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1923, in Cassville, the daughter of Frank and Maude (McNamara) Niemer . After graduating from Fennimore High School, she served in the U. S. Marine Corps at El Toro in Santa Ana, Calif. during World War II. Peg married John "Jack" Williams on June, 30, 1951, at St. Raphaels Cathedral. Together they raised four children. She was a very skilled seamstress and did childcare. Peg was a very active member at St. Dennis Catholic Church for many years. She volunteered at the Luke House, drove for the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, and gave to many charitable organizations. Peg was a current member of St. Anns Catholic Church, where she lovingly served on the prayer chain. She is survived by her four children, Patricia Williams (Ralph Steckman), Laurie (Tom) Mecum, Jeff Williams and Kathy (Bruce) Humphers; 13 grandchildren, Paul (Staci), Margot, Jeffrey (Lynnae), Johanna (Tony), Nicole, Jean, Stephanie, Jackie (Stephan), Anthony, Patrick, Brianna, Faith and Kasey; six great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kieli, McKenzie, Audrey, Alex and Ariella; brother, Maurice (Judy) Niemer; sisters, Lorraine Hidding, Mary Lou Brackett and Anne (Carl) James. Peg was preceded in death by husband, Jack; parents; brothers, Tom, John and Jim Niemer; and sisters, Dorthea Niemer and Kathleen Ouellette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANNS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, with Monsignor Gerard Healy presiding and with a luncheon to follow at church. Entombment will be at Roselawm Memorial Park, with military honors. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51, Stoughton, from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.Memorials may be made to the Stoughton Senior Center (Parkinsons Support Group), St. Anns Catholic Church (St. Vincent de Paul Society), or Stoughton Hospital. Special thanks to the skilled, loving caregivers at Stoughton Hospital who cared for Mom her last two weeks, Monsignor Healy, her beautiful caregivers who allowed her to stay in her home the last few years, Debbie, Peggy, Sarah, Pat, Kelly, Phoebe, Samantha, Katie and Cortney, and her special friends, Rita, Laura and family, Judy and Lyndell. "Happy Syttende Mai in heaven. Mom, we love you!"
