Larsen, Lori Marie MCFARLAND-Lori Marie Larsen, age 42, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, from an unexpected illness, at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on Feb. 24, 1968, in Madison, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Schmeling) Agathen. Lori graduated from Marshall High School in 1986, with high honors and Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Ill., with an associate degree as a registered nurse. She married Mark Larsen on April 27, 1991. Lori had a fulfilling career in nursing. Her compassion and gentle kindness was felt by all those who she cared for. She worked at many wonderful hospitals and clinics, but most recently she worked in the emergency room at Stoughton Hospital. Lori was a member of Door Creek Church, and an advocate for HOPES, a suicide prevention awareness organization. She enjoyed being outdoors, riding her bicycle, scrapbooking, traveling and attending Badger Hockey games. Lori loved the time spent with her family and would do anything for her children. She always found the time to assist with all their activities. Lori and Mark always made time for a special day or evening. The time spent together was such a blessing. Lori is survived by her husband of 18 years, Mark; daughter, Brooke; sons, Grant and Garrett, all at home; and parents, Ed and Helen Agathen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kristin; and father-in-law, Dale Larsen. Mark and Family: I am so so sorry for your loss. Lori was such a colorful and compassionate soul who took such great pride in being a great nurse, a devoted mom, a loving wife, and an awesome friend and coworker. I will never forget the first time I worked with her... we shared our tattoos we got for our siblings and our stories of our similar losses......you never want to have that in common with someone but I was glad to have her as my "partner in crime" in suicde prevention and awareness. I will continue to walk and raise awareness in memory of Kristin, my brother, and now to help carry on Lori's legacy of bringing awareness to something she fought so hard to put an end to. Keep your memories of her always close to your heart, and know that she is watching over you, loving you, and thinking of you every day. God Bless you during this difficult time.
