Vernon Bersing

STOUGHTON- Vernon M. Bersing, age 79, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, April 11, 2010. He was born on March 3, 1931, the son of Menford and Harriet (Nelson) Bersing. Vern attended Pine Creek Grade School and graduated from Taylor High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and was stationed at Turner Air Force Base in Albany, Ga. On April 15, 1952, he married Marilyn Counter of Disco. Vern is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; a brother, Harris (Shirley) Bersing of Taylor; five children, Karen (Curt) Burmeister, Steve (Randi) Bersing, Sandy (Wayne) Quam, David (Amy) Bersing, and Gina (Rob) Nordness; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, Kimberly (Vaughan) Jansen and Nels, Christian Burmeister, Karmen (Matt) Olin and Claire, Marissa (Jason) McHugh and Nola and Finley, Makayla Bersing (special friend, Kency), Conner Bersing, Brent Quam, Gretchen (Greg) Smerda and baby due in June, Ryan Bersing, Amber Bersing (special friend, Mike), Tyler Nordness and Malari Nordness (special friend, Dillon). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Orville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at ST. ANNS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerald Healy presiding. Burial will be held at St. Anns Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy 51, Stoughton. A special thank you to the Nazareth Rehab Center and St. Marys Hospital for their love, dedication and support for Vern. Cemetery: Burial will be held at St. Anns Catholic Cemetery.
