Obituary
Stanger, Daniel B.MADISON-Daniel B. Stanger, age 76, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010. He was born on Aug. 30, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Chester and Catherine (Kerrigan) Stanger. Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a very talented pianist and artist. In addition to the wonderful works of art he created over the years, Danowned and operated a furniture refinishing service in Carrollton, Texas, until his retirement in 2005. He moved to Madison in June 2005, to be closer to his daughters and their families. Dan loved listening to jazz music and engaging in spirited conversations about politics, films, art and religion. He was fascinated by Asian culture. His red hair and booming voice made him memorable, but most of all, Dan will be remembered for his lightning-fast wit and incredible sense of humor. Everyone that met Dan described him as quite a character! Dan enjoyed hosting Looney Tunes Theater for his grandsons, Trent and Grant. The giggling coming from Grampas room during those hours was music to the ears. Dan gave the gift of humor to so many people over the years and we are all better for it. He is survived by his children: daughters, Layli (Doug) Spaete and Dana Romano and sons, Bill (Gina) Stanger and Dan (Elaine) Liska; grandchildren, Alixandra, Grant, Trent, Jimmy and John; brother, Chester (Georgann) Stanger; sister, Joanie Maentanis; brother-in-law, Lee (Linda) Jensen; close niece and nephew, Leanne (Jeff) Campbell and David (Melissa) Jensen; and many other relatives and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his daughter, Tahirih Tia wife, Janet; parents; and brother, Bill. Dan had a big personality and made an impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed. Looney Tunes Theater is now closed. We love you, Dad. Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park

Dear Bill: (Willie),
so very sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. Loved your Mom, Janet, did not know your Dad. It is never easy losing both parents. Just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time! Best to you!
