Carolyn Halvarson

Halvarson, Carolyn R. MADISON/MONONA-Carolyn R. Halvarson, age 75, passed away during the early morning hours on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at HospiceCare. She was born on Nov. 24, 1934, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Matthew Fortado and Elda (Tilley) Fortado. Carolyn married Ed Halvarson on June 26, 1971, in Springfield, Ill. She was a longtime business owner with her husband Ed, of Springhaven Laundry in Monona. Carolyn's love of family was her number one priority. She enjoyed jazz concerts and was a member of Madison Jazz Society, and loved her rose garden. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ed; son, John (Cathy) Lynn; daughter, Carol Maki; stepson, Jeff Halvarson; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Donovan, Matt and Mike Lynn, Brian and Sam Maki; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Donovan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Matt Fortado; and sister, Audrey Fortado. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. or Madison East/Monona Rotary Foundation. Carolyn was a gracious lady, who touched the hearts of many. She will be missed by all. Cemetery: Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
