Shirley Norkus

Norkus, Shirley J. OREGON-Shirley J. Norkus, age 85, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on Aug. 29, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Pierre and Ebba Maxfield. Shirley married Edward Norkus on March 29, 1942, in Chicago. She worked side by side with her husband, Ed, building their auto/truck repair business. Shirley welcomed all to their home with a wonderful smile and warm hospitality. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be missed by all. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Bruce) Sauter; four grandchidren, Raymond Jakubek, Katherine (James) Iazzetto, Michael Norkus, and Adam Sauter; two great-granddaughters, Kristine and Julie Iazzetto; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; daughter, Pamela Jakubek; and son, Edward Norkus Jr. Private family services will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Oregon Manor for the loving care over the last five years, and Meriter Hospital for their efforts to make Shirley comfortable.
