Obituary
MADISON- James K. Burke, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at HospiceCare, Inc. He was born on Nov. 17, 1917, in Madison, the son of Charles and Ella (Hegg) Burke. Jim graduated from East High School. After high school, he helped in constructing Frank Allis School. Jim worked for Wonewoc Dairy in Elroy. He married Eileen Erickson on Dec. 14, 1939. They relocated to the east side of Madison. Jim began working at Gardner Bakery in 1942, until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his family. Jim also loved yard work, gardening, baking and cooking. He is survived by his sons, Dan (Marjorie) of Port Washington, and Mike (Judy) of Madison; daughter, Karen (Ron) Reineck of Eagle River; grandchildren, Eric (Alison), Ryan (Stephanie), Dianna (Larry), Mike (Tara), Bob (Debbie), Mike (Stephanie), and Jim (Lisa); ten great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sutherland; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen; and four sisters, Beatrice, Ella Mae, Doris and Mary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or HospiceCare. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Marys Hospital, HospiceCare and Capital Lakes. The family is blessed and is grateful for the many years of Jims life.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and also on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
