Johnson, Marian L. BROOKLYN-Marian L. Johnson, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Marian was born on Sept. 6, 1921, in Evansville, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Olson) Rasmussen. She was united in marriage to Quentin B. Johnson in 1948. Marian graduated from Janesville High School in 1938 and from Milton College with a cum laude in 1942. She served as student chairman of the Milton College radio series during the 1940-41 season. Marian taught English at Brooklyn High School and also physical education for the Girls Athletic Association. She later retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Marian was an active member of Brooklyn Lutheran Church for more than 50 years and was involved in community affairs for many years. She and Quent enjoyed many years of square dancing and the sounds of big band music. Marian enjoyed being a playground director, working with children in Janesville. She excelled in many sports including swimming, bicycling, softball, archery, and lettered four years on the girls basketball team of which she was captain. Marian was also a longtime member of the Evansville Golf Association. Because of her lifelong love for the West, she loved hiking in the Colorado mountains outside of Boulder. In retirement, Marian was a driver escort for RSVP and enjoyed participating in the Elderhostel Program. She always looked forward to family vacations around the United States, mainly Out West and in the Canadian Rockies. Marian especially enjoyed celebrating her 80th birthday in Zermatt, Switzerland and traveling to Chamonix, France with her family. Survivors include her husband, Quentin; a son, Douglas (Vickie) of Evansville; daughters, Jan and Julie of Madison; a brother, Robert of Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren, Shalicia, Quentin (Natalie), Deja (Scott), James and Nikolas. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Joyce. Funeral services will be held at BROOKLYN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 101 Second St., Brooklyn at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010, with the Rev. Rebecca Ninke presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 431 Soden Drive, Oregon, from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brooklyn Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711. A special thanks and note of appreciation to the staff of St. Marys Hospital and Ellen and Peter Johnson HospiceCare for their gentle and compassionate care. My tears have been flowing all day after talking with Jan. I wish I could be there with you. Even though I cannot be there physically, you are in my daily thoughts and prayers. We may be sad now but reflection on all the wonderful years with Marian will never be lost. May God keep and bless all of you. Love Debbie

the world has lost a very special person and i have lost my most precious aunt. my life has been so much richer because of aunt marian and her passing has left a terrible void. To Quentin and Family: I am so sorry to learn of 'Miss Rasmussen's'death as my first acquaintance with her was as she being my English Teaacher at Brooklyn High School. I always considered her my friend as she was such a pleasant person. Please accept my Deepest Sympathy. Pauline
