Obituary
CROSS PLAINS-Joseph H. Maier, age 83, passed away on March 14, 2010. He was born March 28, 1926, to Wolfgang and Margaret (Wipperfurth) Maier. On June 18, 1953, he married Ruth Brunner at St. Francis Xavier parish where they are life long members. He was a United States Army veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sargeant and gun commander in Okinawa. Joe was a farmer who was a longtime delegate and then district president for AMPI, a delegate for ASC and secretary on the Middleton Co-op Board. Joe was a 58 year member of the Cross Plains American Legion Post 245 and a past commander and sang in the St. Francis Xavier Church choir. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, their children; David (Mary), Charles (Julie), Andy (Yvonne), Eugene (Julie), Norbert, Betty (Marcel) Nonn and Joseph J. (Dawn); 15 grandchildren, Laura (Andy) Meicher, Linda, Randy, Ryan, Ashley, Alison, Christie and Kyle Maier, Amber (Seth) Vollrath, Jeremy (Stacy) Argue, Tyson and Mitchell(Ashley Dedie) Argue, Sara, Kelsey and Jacob Nonn. He is further survived by his sisters, Bertha Spahn, Frances Dyer, Mary Barman, Sr. Lenora and in laws, Eleanor Maier, Henry (Beatrice) Brunner, John Brunner, Norbert (Marian) Brunner, Sr. J. Dolores, Sr. Virginia and Sr. Mary Therese. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by Susan (Alois) Schrenk, Herman (Rose Ann) Maier, Aloysius Maier, Bernard Maier, Melvin Spahn, Richard Dyer, Joseph Barman, Margaret Acker and June Brunner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2010 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 17, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Francis Endowment Fund or to the Cross Plains American Legion Post 245.

Visitation:
Visitation will be on Wednesday March 17, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service all at the church.
Service:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2010 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding.
