Sieber, Harold A.
MADISON-Harold A. Sieber, age 99, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Oakwood Village West. He was born on Aug. 24, 1910, in the township of Rolling, in Langlade County, the son of Julius and Esther (Polar) Sieber. Harold graduated from Plymouth High School in 1928 and from the Fountain City Business College, Fond du Lac. He married Irene M. Fritz on Aug. 7, 1933, at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. They were the parents of John and Nancy. Harold worked for the Mobil Oil Corp. for 43 years, starting in Fond du Lac. After his marriage, he was transferred to Janesville, where they lived for nine years. In 1942, Harold was transferred to Madison, where his family has lived ever since. In 1947, he was promoted from the Madison Bulk Plant Office to the Field Auditing Department, where he audited bulk plants in Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin. Harold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school and was a member of the council. He served two terms as president of the congregation. After retirement, Harold served as president of Trinity Fellowship and was also a member of Keenagers and Parish Visitors. Irene and Harold loved to travel and they visited every state in the union, including Alaska and Hawaii. He played golf and worked as a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Bank. Harold researched the Sieber family history and completed his genealogy, which he shared with his family. He is survived by two children, Dr. John H. (Katrinka) Sieber of Imperial Beach, Calif. and Nancy I. (Ted) Spence of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Anne (Brett) Collingwood of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Hans (Julie) Sieber of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five great-grandchildren, Sean, Logan and Joseph Collingwood of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Theodore and Nicholas Sieber of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Richard of Princeton; four sisters, Dorothy DeMunck of Glenbeulah, Barbara Bartz of Hillister, Texas, Coila Sieber of Baltimore, Md., and Audrey (John) Stormoen of Dellwood; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frederick, Donald and Robert; and two sisters, Erma and Margaret. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010, with the Rev. John Ruppenthal presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Rienzi Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc.
