Obituary

MCFARLAND-Marlene Audry Goddard, age 72, of McFarland, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at UW Hospital. She was born on Feb. 15, 1938, the daughter of the Rev. Dudley and Audry (Crane) Cook. Marlene married John Jack Goddard in 1959, in Baraboo. She worked at AT&T as a telephone operator for more than 20 years. Marlene attended Madison Area Technical College for nursing, while raising a family. She took great pride in her home on the lake and loved decorating for Christmas. Marlene also enjoyed gardening, and found comfort among the pine and fruit trees. She was compassionate toward children and animals through her generous donations to charities. Marlenes family always came first and she loved spending time with them. She is survived by her husband, John of McFarland; three daughters, Mona (Jack) Wells of Union, Ky., Mary Beth Goddard of McFarland, and Marie Goddard (Delta Quimby) of Merrimac; a son, John Goddard;grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Wells, Alex Goddard, and many grand-pets;a brother, John (Carol) Cook;step-mother, Grace Cook; and nieces and nephews.Marlene was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Entombment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010. Cemetery: Entombment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation: Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010. Service: Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
