Obituary

Jacobson, Margery V. MCFARLAND/COTTAGE GROVE-Margery V. Jacobson, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on June 24, 1917, on a farm near Arkdale, the daughter of Albert and Femma (Keena) Oleston. Marge married Stanley Jacobson. She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church since 1951 and the women's auxiliary, volunteering for many different activities over the years. Marge was one of the first cooks of the famous original Jacobson potato salad recipe for Jacobson Brothers Meats. She was a member of the McFarland 500 Club and played up until recently. Marge loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jane (Russ) Shaub of Middleton and Kenneth Jacobson of Georgia; two sons-in-law, Jerry Buss of Cottage Grove and Don Halverson of Oregon; grandchildren, Eric (Brenda) Halverson, Jodi (Paul) Huston, Steve (Angela) Buss, Amy (Jeff) Zapp, Jennifer Cizek, John (Jennifer) Shaub, David (Virginia) Shaub, Wesley Jacobson and Stanley Haag; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Connie Oleston of Janesville, Joyce Ritchey of Lima, Ohio, Don Oleston of Janesville and JoAnn Hoffman of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley in 1971; children, Janet Halverson, Jean Buss and Karen Haag; grandchildren, Dale Halverson and Jeff Cizek; and siblings, Robert, Dale, James, Ralph and Curtis Oleston. Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 Highway AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the HospiceCare Foundation.
