Charlotte Ganley

MADISON-Charlotte (Schelain) Ganley, age 94, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at Four Winds Manor in Verona. She was born December 30, 1915, in Chicago, IL., to Frank and Agnes (Ross) Schelain. After retiring from a long career as a retail buyer and manager throughout the Midwest, she served as volunteer coordinator for the Middleton Outreach Ministry (Project for Older People-POP) retiring again at age eighty-four. She was instrumental in bringing the Senior Olympics to Middleton, and in expanding the POP program. She continued to volunteer until age 90. Charlotte is survived by her daughters Fern Ganley of Boston, MA and Gail Wood (Michael) of Madison, her grandson Donald Wood (Kristi) of Anchorage, AK., her great-grandson Tyler Wood of Anchorage, her sister Fern Gross of Wilbraham, MA., her sister-in-law, Betty Schelain of Dousman and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Warren Schelain, and her grandson Dean Wood. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at MIDDLETON COMMUNITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 645 Schewe Road, (off Old Sauk Road), Middleton , where Charlotte was a long-time member. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Private burial will be in Middleton Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middleton Outreach Ministry or to the Middleton Community United Church of Christ.
