Robert Behling

MIDDLETON-Bob W. Behling, age 87, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 in St. Mary\'s Hospital in Madison. He was born on July 30, 1922, in Menomonie, the son of William and Anna (Gerhan) Behling. Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Risley on June 24, 1943 in Loredo, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1997. Bob was a World War II veteran having served his time as a Aerial Gunner Instructor. For over 20 years he was a lead electrician for the Capital, state of Wisconsin and Governor\'s Mansion until his retirement in 1985. Bob was a member of St. Luke\'s Lutheran and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was an avid gardener who was known for his beautiful roses and begonias. Having been \"Mr. Fix-It\" , Bob loved tinkering with projects, working on cars and traveling in his motor home throughout the southwest and Alaskan cruises, but most of all he loved his family and close friends. He is survived by his daughter, Joan McDermott; a grandson, Troy (Aimee) Biwersi and their children, Kiera and Gabriel; two granddaughters, Jody McDermott and Lindsey McDermott; a great granddaughter, Ashley and two sisters, Esther Thatcher and Louise Styer. In addition to his wife Shirley, he was preceded in death by a son James in 2002. Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE\'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2010 with the Reverend Heather Lampert presiding. Entombment with military honors will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Madison. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.It takes a special kind of man to care enough to take the time for others...It takes the kind of man who, in a quiet and sincere way, does whatever it takes to help somebody out, Robert was that man.
