Obituary

Dvorak, Bernice L. MADISON/DEERFIELD-Bernice L. Dvorak, age 98, of Madison, passed away peacefully with her family present on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010. She was born on Nov. 20, 1911, in Mount Horeb, a daughter of eight children to Ole B. and Clara (Tufsrud) Lee. Bernice graduated from Mount Horeb High School. She married Bennie Dvorak on Feb. 7, 1941. Bernice was a resident of both Madison and Deerfield. She was a wonderful and caring mother to her four children. Bernice enjoyed playing cards and making Norwegian food for her family. Bernice loved the Badgers and Packers, and was a huge fan of "Dancing with the Stars," and "American Idol." She is survived by her children, Thomas (Linda) Dvorak, David (Carol) Dvorak, Sandy Dvorak, and Joyce (Dennis) Witt; seven grandchildren, Todd (Meg), Timothy, and Michael (Angela) Dvorak, Ronda (Steve) Erickson, Jill (Troy) Coffey, Jeff (Sheri) Witt, and Jennifer (Josh Kunz) Witt; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Cole Erickson, Kyle LaBarge, Tyler and Kailee Coffey, Courtney and Lacey Brooks, Jordan and Jared Witt, and Jayden Dvorak; two step great-grandchildren, Matthew and Monique Rodriquez; sisters, Vivian Zumkehr and Evelyn Hauser; and brother-in-law, Ed Dvorak. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie on April 15, 2002; a sister, Nora; brothers, Marvin, Arthur and Vern; and an infant brother, Obert. Funeral services will be held at ST. PAUL'S LIBERTY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010, with the Rev. Daniel Anderson presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, and at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank HospiceCare and all of the doctors and nurses that cared for their Mom, and Rev. Dan Anderson for his kind words, prayers and visits. Tom, David and I send our condolences to you and your family. I remember our conversations regarding your mother (as my father is just 7 months younger ) and I always enjoyed hearing about her energy and vivacity for life. Our thoughts are with you all.
