Ilka Jackson

Jackson, Ilka E.\r\n MADISON- Ilka E. Jackson, age 78, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Willie and Agnes (Janisch) Engel. Ilka met Theodore Jackson in Germany during the war and then came to the United States and were married on Feb. 7, 1948 in Evansville. She worked for C&P, Olds Seeds and Jungs Garden Center for more than 50 years. Ilka was a club member of Dept. 56 and a longtime member of Monona United Methodist Church. Her greatest joys in life were knitting, making chocolate, horses, and the Chicago Cubs, but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Ilka is survived by her children, Gerry, David, Debbie (Lon) Morgan, and Karen (John) Egly; three grandchildren, Brandon, Carissa (Joel), and Larry (Christina); great-grandson, Kegan; and her canine companion, Annie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; son, Tommy; and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nicholas Road, Monona, with the Rev. David Byers-Dent presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc.
