Obituary
Sullivan, Gerald RustyMADISON-Gerald Rusty Sullivan, age 51, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at UW Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on August 22, 1958, at University Hospital. At the hospital, his Grandpa Ed took one look at him and called him Rusty. The name stuck. In his earlier years, Rusty loved to play softball and was a terrific bowler. He was an avid sports fan. Rusty loved the Badgers and was a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan. Unfortunately, he never got to see them win a World Series, although they came close a few times. In recent years, Rusty really enjoyed watching his 3 nieces grow into wonderful young ladies. Morgan, McKayla and Mackenzie meant the world to him. Rusty loved spending time with his extended family as well, especially his Aunt Kathys annual St. Pattys Day and fall ball parties, where he spent time with his aunts, Sharon and Mary, uncles, Ted and Pete, and his many cousins. Rusty was always the life of the party, and always made everyone laugh. He is survived by his parents, Annette (Bruce) Bright of Middleton, and Jerry (Wanda) Sullivan of Parowan, Utah; brothers, Michael of Madison, and Robert (Ann) of Cross Plains; his nieces; and step-brothers and step-sisters, Rick, Joel, Robert, Cindy, and David. Rusty was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; and uncles, Richard and Dennis. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Rustys family would like to thank Dr. Douglas Coursin and his wonderful staff at the TLC North unit of UW Hospital who made his last days peaceful. He is at peace with the angels. He will be in our hearts forever.

I worked with Rusty at American Girl when he was taking pictures of new seasonal employees for Human Resources. Please accept my sincere sympathy.
I did not know him well, but he was always polite and hard working.
May God bless his memory.
