Beck, John H.MADISON-John H. Beck of Madison, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010. He was born on May 18, 1918, in Mauston, the son of Dr. James E. and Lucretia (Harris) Beck. John grew up in Mauston along with his two sisters, Florence (Guentzel) and Margaret (Schmidt). He proudly served with the 15th Air Force in Italy during World War II. In 1948, John married Maxine Doughty. Together they raised their two children in Hales Corners, Carol Beck of Madison and Jim Beck of Roanoke, Texas. John felt that life was good to him. He was grateful for family, friends, Monona United Methodist Church, and the help of HospiceCare at the end. A family memorial will be held in Madison at a later date.

Although I did not know my grandpa all too well I did love him very much and will miss him. He was a wonderful man and his wife, children, and grandchildren. I know that he is now serving our Lord and is being rewarded for his long life.

Living in St. Louis and going to Seminary, Chris, Curt and I were very blessed having Grandpa & Grandma as our nearest relatives. We loked forward to the holidays and long weekends when we could "retreat" to Milwaukee and Grandpa's house for nice visits. What an honor for me to celebrate Curt's first birthday with his great-grandparents. What fun we had in the snow too (Spring Break '94)!
Grandpa, you were a joy to know and love. I share two very important dates with you: your birthday became mine & Chris's wedding anniversary (18MAY), and my birthday is shared with your death (10FEB). May you rest in Jesus' eternal peace!
