Obituary

Renault, Patricia Moran STOUGHTON-Patricia Moran Renault, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Skaalen Home. She was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Tucson, Ariz., the youngest of five daughters born to Thomas and Pearl Moran. Being a purposeful and strong willed child, she always knew that she wanted to be a nurse. She achieved her goal in 1943 when she graduated from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Lewiston, Idaho. Upon graduation, she crossed the Atlantic to serve her country during World War II as a young Army nurse. She served in Paris, France and in Germany. It was in Paris, France that she met the love of her life. Captain George Emile Renault Jr. had been injured in action while in Germany and was quite smitten with the blue-eyed Lieutenant Moran. As Dad would tell it, "I came all the way to France to meet an Irish Mick from Idaho!" The rest, as they say, is history. Together they had four children, Patricia Renault (David Druckenbrod), George E. (Lucinda) Renault III, Paulette Renault (Patrick Marsden), and Kathleen Renault (the late Al Smith); 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. As an Army wife she obligingly packed boxes and hung pictures wherever we were stationed.Mom made our clothes, taught us our prayers, and baked cookies for school (Mom! I need three-dozen cookies for school TOMORROW!). She taught us how to scrub kitchen floors, peel potatoes, and make beds with perfect hospital corners. She sang all the time, always off key. Mom made the best meatloaf in the world, and on the occasion of our birthdays made whatever we wanted for supper. As we children grew older she returned to her love of nursing and worked as a supervising RN for a family practice clinic until her retirement at age 74. Holy Smoke what a woman! Her husband, Colonel George Renault Jr., preceded Patricia in death in 2003 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Patricia will be interred at Arlington at a later date.We are grateful for the loving care that she received during her stay at Skaalen Home as well as the many kindnesses shown to us, her family. Cemetery: Patricia will be interred at Arlington at a later date.
