Obituary

Ortman, Diane Margaret STOUGHTON - Diane Margaret Ortman, age 60, of Stoughton, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at her home, close to her family. She was born in Milwaukee on November 28, 1949, the third child of Vernon, Sr. and Rosalie (Zeller) Gruenwald. Diane grew up in Thiensville and later moved to the Wisconsin Dells, where she would graduate from high school in 1967. After technical training, she worked at Madison General Hospital, now Meriter Hospital, as an EKG Technician, and later as a unit clerk. Diane had many fine memories of the people she worked with at Meriter. She married Monte Ortman on January 31, 1975 in Brooklyn. Diane loved being creative and took great pleasure in remodeling and furnishing her home to fit her and her family's needs. Even though Diane experienced many years of difficult medical problems, she was most often cheerful and upbeat, as that was her nature. She is now at peace with the Lord. Diane is survived by her husband, Monte; sons, Jeremy and Benjamin; brother, Vernon Gruenwald, Jr.; sisters, Kathleen (Gerald) Schulz and Lisa Shirley; step-brothers, Rene (Cheryl) Wegnar and Rick Wegnar; nephews, Steve, Mike, and Nick; niece, Suzy, as well as many other nephews and nieces that she cared greatly for; brothers-in-law, Gale (Betty) Ortman, Terry (Marcella) Ortman, and Edward (Carol) Ortman; and sisters-in-law, Donna Clark, Sonia Tomlin, Judy (Bill) Woyak, Sharon (Earl) Manthey, and Margit (Larry) Pearson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Rosalie; step-mother, Camilla; aunt, Katherine Stauss; maternal and paternal grandparents; father-in-law, Edward Ortman, Sr.; nephew, Joe Hyland; and brothers-in-law, Marc Ortman, Bill Clark, Paul Hyland, and Edwin Tomlin. Burial will follow at Cooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. If so desired, memorials may be made to the UW Transplant Clinic or the American Diabetes Association. Visitation: Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Service: Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy. 51, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010.
