Rachel Ottum

Ottum, Rachel M. MADISON-Rachel M. Ottum, age 93, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on May 23, 1916. The daughter of Theodore and Irma (Sherbel) Ottum. Rachel graduated from Wisconsin State Teachers College. She taught school for many years in the Cambridge and Oregon areas. Rachel was a lifelong, faithful member of McFarland Lutheran Church, she was very active in the quilting group, McFarland Senior Citizens and bible study group, she also taught Sunday school and was on the church newsletter assembly group for over 25 years. She was a quiet, thoughtful and kind person, when good things would happen to family and friends, she would send cards, announcements and newspaper clippings. Her presence was known by her many acts of kindness. Rachel will be missed by her family and friends including her first cousins, Helen (Terry) LaGree, Tom(Ann) Ottum, and David Ottum all of Florida. She is also survived by many friends and relatives who were blessed to have her gentle spirit in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Olga Ottum. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH 5529 Marsh Rd. McFarland with the Reverend Jerry Pribbenow presiding. Inurnment will be held at McFarland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to McFarland Lutheran Church. A special thanks to Joanne and El Santos and Rachel Strang for their loving care and support of Rachel.
