Obituary

Eller, LeRoy KING/MADISON- LeRoy Eller, age 78, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 5, 1931, in Alva, Okla., to Ray and Mattie (Beck) Eller. In May 1948, LeRoy enlisted in the U. S. Army for five years, with three of those years spent in Germany. In May 1956, he re-enlisted in the Army for three more years. In 1958, LeRoy married the love of his life, Helen Vasen. He worked for various factories and was proud to have produced parts for NASA and Apollo missions, in addition to building gates. For 15 years, LeRoy was employed by St. Vincent de Paul, where he enjoyed working and making many new friends, before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and woodworking. LeRoy is survived by his children, Ray (Cheryl) Eller and Ruth (Brent) Wickus; four grandchildren, Catherine, Constance and Matlynn Eller, and Luke Wickus; a brother, Johnny; and sister, Francis. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; brothers, Stanley and Sherman; and sisters, Wanda and Rose Anna. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, with military rites conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. LeRoy will be dearly missed by family and friends. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
