Photo/FlagUlrich, Ronald LeeMADISON- Ronald Lee Ulrich, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on Dec. 10, 1927, in Madison, the son of Floyd and Florence (Cockroft) Jackson. After the death of his birth parents who died in a car accident when he was 18 months old, he was adopted by Carl and Leona Ulrich. He married Margie Vlasak on Aug. 6, 1949, in Madison at Bethel Lutheran Church. Ronald graduated from Central High School and the University of Wisconsin. He was a geophysicist and veteran. Ronald worked for Seismograph Service Corporation, he then transferred to Birdwell division where he retired a few years later. Margie and Ronald celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2009. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. He was also a boy scout leader. He loved his dog, Benji. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie; two children, Jeff (Gwen) and Julie (Terry) Oyster; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Trish), Marty, Scott, Michelle (Steve), John (Lisa), Marianne (Ryan), Erin (Rich), and Lindsey (Dan); six great-grandchildren, Vorian, Mason, Jaelyn, Kaley, Ashlyn and Madelyn; a sister, Bev (Jim) Henning; an aunt, Dolores Cockroft; an uncle, Walter (Aunt Lillian) Ulrich. Ronald leaves behind many relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
