Photo/FlagMortensen, NedMADISON-Ned Mortensen, age 84, passed on January 16, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Reedsburg on Feb. 20, 1925, the son of Aage Mortensen and Louise Mortensen (Bimel). He was married on June 8, 1946 to Norma Johnsen in Madison. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Army a few days after his 18th birthday, where he served time in the Philippines, France and Germany. He had a variety of interests including softball, fishing, hunting, bowling, lapidary and playing cards. Over the years he enjoyed telling stories about the days he played sports and hunted. The most important aspect of his life was his family. He is survived by his son, Richard Mortensen and Richs partner Jan; two grandsons, Jeff (Brenda) Mortensen and their children, Paige and Abby of Edgerton and Brian (Brandy) Mortensen and their children Cody and Bryce of Madison; two wonderful sisters Alaine Barr of Lodi and Norma (Delbert) Pearson of Florida; his brother in law, Cliff (Marge) Johnsen and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceeded in death by Norma, his beloved wife of 60 years; his parents; and four brothers, Skip, Clarence, Jack and Emery. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HopsiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. RICH & FAMILY Rembering working with Ned at Liberty Trucking for years. Also playing bingo with Ned & Norma many times. And being my sister (Aggie's) neighbor for all the years I remember.AND remember seeing/visiting Ned the last year. MY SYMPATHY.. HELEN KELLY

I will always remember the Christmas's at Norma and Ned's house. I'll remember the card games, looking at Ned's stone collection, and hearing about their trips. My sympathy to Rich and his family. Ned was a great guy.
