Mary Johnson

Johnson, Mary Ellen MADISON-Mary Ellen Johnson, age 53, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at her home. She was born on May 19, 1956, in Montana, the daughter of Carl M. and Geraldine (Dick) Vogt. Mary married James Johnson on June 18, 1976. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, James "J.J."; children, Glenda Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson (Amber), all of Madison; three grandchildren, Skylar, Hannah and Austin; her parents, Carl and Geraldine Vogt of Portage; grandmother, Elva Dick of Sun Prairie; sisters, Marcia Goode and Carla McCord, both of McFarland, Rhonda Meeker, Nancy Kassner and Linda Bortz, all of Portage; brother, Carl A. Vogt of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. "My Mom hurt her back a few years ago at work. She has had to go see doctors a lot and they say if she has surgery, there is only about a 20 percent chance that she'll walk again. I see how she lives in constant pain and still tries to do a lot of things that she shouldn't do. I think the main thing is just that I watch how she never gives up and that\'s what really motivates me. I think that my Mom is a wonderful person and I hope that she will be able to support me for a long time."
